THE OUTREACH PROGRAM

Feeding the local community...

This is one of our community projects.  The Outreach Program brings groups together to pack food for the hungry in the community.  Our club participates in these projects to help our local community. This is a super fun event and helps the community at the same time. 2000 meals packed for Arlington Food Assistance Center.

INTERACT CLUBS

We support two Interact clubs in the area at Wakefield High School and Gunston Middle School. These year-round programs include Science Fairs, Career Day, Interact Club activities, Teacher of the Year, etc. that help instill kindness and volunteerism in the children. We also award annual college scholarships to HS seniors that demonstrate personal commitments to "Service Above Self".

ROTARY PEACE FELLOWSHIP

We've sponsored two Peace Fellows who attend one of five Rotary Peace Institutes for a two year fully funded masters degree in Peace. Our latest Peace Fellow graduated from International Christian University in Tokyo and is currently at Harvard University. We're in the process of sponsoring another applicant in 2019.

YOUTH EXCHANGE

Every year we look to support youth exchange students from all over the world so that children can get an experience that will positively shape their lives. We've had exchange students from France, Brazil, India, Turkey, and Spain.

INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS

The club has supported projects in Suriname (daycare equipment, clean water, sanitation), Uganda (orphange self sustaining effort using farming, chicken/ pig sty, and micro-finance), Swaziland (nursing equipment for a hospital), and provides support to ShelterBox--A Rotary project that prepares and provides a box of life saving equipment to maintain a family of 10 for 6 months.

END POLIO NOW

We support Polio Eradication efforts through PolioPlus, now a joint program of Rotary, The United Nations World Health Organization, The US Center for Disease Control, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Our members have participated in Immunization Days in Polio affected countries.
