Inja’s Exchange Year

Saturday, June 7, 2025
Inja Nazon, a high school student from Marseille, France, spent the past school year with the family of Crystal City-Pentagon (CCP) Rotarian Juan Pablo Leal in Arlington, VA.  Beginning in August 2024, Inja attended Yorktown High School where she joined the dance and track teams.  Her dance team won the Coastal Capital Dance competition last fall, leading to participation at the national competition in Orlando, FL in November.  According to Inja, being part of the dance team helped her improve her English (she's now fluent!); it's also where she made good friends.  Inja is very proud to have earned a varsity letter in both dance and track.  Track team, another wonderful experience, helped Inja stay motivated to do her best.  She's truly become part of the Yorktown High School family.

Inja became close to the entire Leal family.  Together they have travelled near and far - to visit New York City, Florida, and the White House.  In New York, Inja experienced the Macy's Day parade, MOMA, Times Square, the 9-11 museum, and (of course) the Rockettes.  For a dancer, the Rockettes were a true highlight for Inja.

While Inja returns home to Marseille in June, she hopes to return to the United States in the future.  This coming academic year will see Inja at a new, challenging school in Marseille.  She will be missed by the Leal family, but they know they will remain in touch.  All the best to Inja from your CCP family!
