The Crystal City-Pentagon Rotary Club (CCPRC) proudly supported Wreaths Across America by sponsoring 150 wreaths to honor fallen service members at Arlington National Cemetery. In less than a month, the project raised more than $2,500 for Wreaths Across America and an additional $750 for the Club, surpassing the original fundraising goal. The effort was led by CCPRC Project Chair Alejandra Underwood and concluded on December 13, when four Rotarians and two friends of CCPRC participated in wreath laying at Arlington National Cemetery. CCPRC members shared that walking the rows of headstones and placing wreaths was a deeply moving experience that reminded them of the true meaning of “Service Above Self.”
The project reflected Rotary’s commitment to service and fellowship. Members took part in fundraising, planning, and hands-on volunteer work, while also strengthening fellowship within the Club. Following the wreath placement, members gathered for a fellowship brunch to celebrate the project’s success, which brought together additional members to strengthen our community ties.
By sponsoring 150 wreaths, the Crystal City-Pentagon Rotary Club helped ensure that our community remembers, honors, and teaches younger generations about the cost of freedom. We look forward to continuing this important tradition and finding new ways to serve and support our veterans and their families in the years ahead.
